Scott joined the Chorioretinal Degenerations Laboratory in March 2010 as a Ph.D. student in the Genetics Program. Under the joint supervision of Dr. Mullins and Dr. Todd E. Scheetz, Scott’s research focused on bioinformatic analysis of gene expression changes in age-related macular degeneration. He completed his doctoral thesis, entitled "Molecular Investigations of Age-Related Macular Degeneration”, in 2015.

After completing a postdoctorate with Dr. Edwin M. Stone, Scott now serves as an Assistant Research Scientist at the University of Iowa Institute for Vision Research.
